Its Monday again and now is our time to go over the “weekend weak ends”. Those MC’s who were strong and those others that are weak. This time we went to “Bmore” Maryland to check out this new artist known as K Little. Khalil is born and raised in Baltimore and has developed a style that is young and engaging artist with a vivacious personality that is attractive to many. K.little recently began his career in 2009 and his skills are quickly accelerating up to the current day level. The piece we saw him perform is an original piece titled, “mY hip hop generation”.

The piece is posted below and has a lot of good aspects. The first thing that is noticed is the artist’s energy. He is an emotional rapper who uses that to his full advantage. Engaging the minds of his audience and holding their attention is a natural skill for K.Little and is an important skill for all artists. The topics he speaks on are true from his life, thought provoking and somewhat eye opening. Previous pieces like, “Intro” and “2nd strike” go along with this artists style. This can be seen as a good and bad thing. His dedicated fans of the future will love that he is always doing his serious pieces. But, it will be hard for Little to branch out and reach a new audience if he wants to impact the world in the way we know he can.

K.Little also speaks well but it is seen in his swagger that he is still true to his origin. This kid will be able to connect to everyone.

However, like also issues of “weekend weak ends”, we gotta find the weak points and exploit them. After all, he isn’t famous for a reason.

NERVES OF STEAL! Is NOT what K.Little has. Off the stage he is a witty and funny guy who can flirt his way out of any situation. But in the light, his stage presence is not as secure. In the beginning of the performance it is almost as though we can hear him screaming,”WHERE DO I PUT MY HANDS!?”

Because this piece is serious, it is understood that he does not move around a lot. But to engage future listeners this artist will need to have a little more fun with his pieces.

The talent is there and the nerves will fade as he continues his career.

Thank you K.Little for adding another aspect to the game and proving that hip hop IS in fact still alive.

Yo what's good?

This is an interesteing topic. Sometime last year I went home and saw my brothers.

"YOOOOO WHAT'S REALLY GOOD!?" is the way I was greated jus before we dapped each other up. but the normal dap I am use to changed to one where in the end you keep ur thumb up and point your index finger at the person.

Like hip hop, this form of greating people has changed various times from special handshakes to show love for friends to snapping during the dap and now this point.

I dont like it and can't do it to someone.

I get the feeling that the person doing it is gonna stab me in the back. It's all smiles and love until the last instant when it feels like a gun is being pointed at me.

I mean take it how you want, "You're too sensitive khalil", "you look too deep into everything". But that's how it feels. Why not dap me up, look me in the eyes and hold a tight grip at the end to show, "I'm here for you" no homo......and what da fuck is up wit no homo. That shit's annmoying. like i can't speak without choosing the right words.

lol real talk tho, that gun thing. i don't like it. If it's your thing, do it, you're cool.

But know people like me will keep a close eye on you......BOO!! scared ya didn't I?

Grandmaster Melle Mel

The year? 1961. The day? May 15. The place? Bronx, New York.

Grand Master Melle Mel began his career in hip hop with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. As the first person to call himself a “MC” Melle Mel was always ahead of the curve. From his outrageous fashion to his extroverted personality, Grandmaster Melle Mel was an icon in the Hip Hop Era.

In 1982 he began to become more socially aware and, through his music, informed the community of his observations. The hit single, “The Message” was the last hit Grandmaster Flash, Grandmaster Melle Mel and the Furious Five made. This song is a powerful piece that tells of drama many young and underprivileged minorities experience. The idea is for them to get the message and change the their situations

After Grandmaster Flash left the group, Grandmaster Melle Mel and the Furious Five continued their path in hip hop history with hits like, “White Lines” and Pump Me Up”. The song, “White Lines” is an informative song that calls people not to buy, use, or sell cocaine because of its destructive power.

Aside from music, Melle Mel has appeared in Beat Street, a mainstream hip hop dramatic film. He performs a song in the movie with The Furious Five. Besides being the first “MC”, Grandmaster Melle Mel became the first rap artist to ever receive a Grammy for record of the year. At this point, Hip hop, but specifically rap was in America’s culture to stay.

Although Grandmaster Melle Mel has not been as prominent in today’s version of his creation, he still is seen ahead of the curve. He produced his first solo album, “Muscles” on January 30, 2007. Also, one day before my birthday on March 12, 2007, DJ Grandmaster Flash, Grandmaster Melle Mel, and the Furious Five became the first and only rap group to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.

Grandmaster Melle Mel is a person who has contributed his life to hip hop and the bettering of the lives of hip hop’s listeners. He has earned much respect from new age rappers and is mentioned continuously from many of today’s icons. His outrageous style granted him the attention he wanted and deserved.

The year? 2009. The Day? January 26th. The Place? Bethlehem, PA.

Where would hip hop be without Grandmaster Melle Mel?
